Last week, the government imposed a sweeping ban on many social media platforms. In response, a massive protest erupted yesterday, led primarily by Gen Z—young people born after 2000—who were not only opposing the ban but also speaking out against widespread corruption.
Tragically, 19 young lives were lost during the demonstrations yesterday, and the situation has since spiraled out of control. Today, fires have broken out in numerous homes and public buildings, including the parliament. Vehicles and residences belonging to political leaders have also been set ablaze.
At this moment, we cannot predict how far this crisis will escalate or how intense it may become. The unrest continues to grow, and due to ongoing investigations, we have temporarily closed our offices.
We urgently ask you to join us in prayer—for God’s peace, protection, and intervention in this time of turmoil. Pray for the families of the dead and also hundreds who are injured.
